Subject: Last day trolleybus Date: Fri, 30 Jun 2000 09:53:00 +0000 From: M.Burstow@sheffield.ac.uk To: david@trolleybus.net David, Congratulations on the ever expanding and improving site- it's one of my regular visits, and probably increases your 'hit count' considerably! I've just bought a copy of 'London Buses in Colour: 1960s' by Kevin McCormack (pub Ian Allan), which contains some excellent photographs. On page 24/25 is a spread about the 'last day of the trolleybus' with a photograph of no 1 and no 1521, both by Geoff Rixon. The photograph of number 1 was taken in Stanley Road, Fulwell; and comparison with your pictures 342 (Twickenham) and 349 (Kingston) show that there was quite a 'fan club' out that day. From the three photographs the same passengers can be seen on the top deck, and all three photographs feature the same cyclist following the trolleybus. What really interested me, though, was on the photograph by Geoff Rixon. On the very right of the shot is a fellow getting back onto his scooter, with a camera strapped around his neck. You mention that you followed the tolleybus on a scooter, are you and he one and the same? (If you haven't seen the picture, the registration of the scooter ends in CJJ. If you wanted I would be happen to send you a scan of the relevant part of the image for confirmation!). I think we must know the truth! Regards, Mark P.s. I've tried to acces some of your shots on the 696/698 page, and all of the colour ones return as 'file not found'. ======================================= Mark C.
