With interior lights ablaze on the forecourt of Lewes Road Depot, FUF 1 awaits its guests for its final run on the evening of 30 June 1961 - Stage II is about to take place. The buses behind it are a mixture of post-War Regent IIIs and the 1959 batch of trolleybus replacement [rear-entrance] Titan PD2/37 buses, the latter delivered to replace trolleybuses at Stage I of the conversion programme.

The new PD2 forward entrance vehicles will be in the depot [off-shot to the left]; only 6 and 7 [5006-7 CD] had entered service before 1 July 1961, no 6 being in service simultaneously with trolleybus 6 for a month!
