The bottom end of Wimbledon Hill Road just before Wimbledon Station, with just 100 metres to go before the terminus. The driver has already wound on the destination blind to show the Hampton Court destination.

Incidentally, on the right is Joe Lyons where, as a schoolboy, I enjoyed many a toasted teacake and hot blackcurrant juice.

With difficulty a similar camera position is found for this May 2000 picture. The buildings on the left have gone and the old Parcel Office entrance of the railway station is now the exit route for taxis. The Victorian buildings in the distance remain [still as a bank] and unseen on the left Elys, the departmental store, sports the same illuminated name sign that was there forty years ago.
