LT Museum Depot
This store opens occasionally and provides an opportunity to explore the main sheds including road vehicles, machinery, large objects, signs and shelters. From: martin.eady@btinternet.com The Depot at Acton is the reserve collection for the main museum at Covent Garden and many enthusiasts find it more interesting as it has more vehicles, is more 'hands on' and is less infested by tourists [who do have their place]. The next open weekend is 13th and 14th March 2010 and features London's transport in miniature. The open weekends can get very busy, and it is worth taking one of the guided tours that happen from time to time. They cost £10 for adults, £8 for concessions and last normally about 2-3 hours. To find out when the next one is and to book one phone 020 7565 7298. I am one of the volunteer guides myself. What is on show naturally varies as many vehicles are maintained in working order, but you can usually see trolleybuses No1 and 1768, E1 tram 1025, and the Metropolitan Feltham tram, plus many diesel buses, Underground rolling stock, signs, posters etc. etc. The home page of this museum is at: www.ltmuseum.co.uk |
